The Fake Feed

←Back to Moves

Contributed by Dan Pratt, here’s another simple move that takes advantage of a defending feed becoming complacent.

The Fake Feed

Quite simply, set up in 2-2 with the same genders at the post and the same genders attacking as usual (remember, this prevents a defender at the post from switching onto an attacker who has run their defender).

  1. The feed passes out to either player, but rather than stay where they are to receive the ball back, they dart out to the side.
  2. The feed’s defender hasn’t been expecting them to move out so soon, nor to become an instant scoring threat so they follow slowly and without their arm properly raised.
  3. As the feeder runs out, they turn in towards the attacker with the ball, receive it, and continue turning to face the post.
  4. They take a shot from this veer-like movement and score.
