The Fake Feed
Contributed by Dan Pratt, here’s another simple move that takes advantage of a defending feed becoming complacent.
Quite simply, set up in 2-2 with the same genders at the post and the same genders attacking as usual (remember, this prevents a defender at the post from switching onto an attacker who has run their defender).
- The feed passes out to either player, but rather than stay where they are to receive the ball back, they dart out to the side.
- The feed’s defender hasn’t been expecting them to move out so soon, nor to become an instant scoring threat so they follow slowly and without their arm properly raised.
- As the feeder runs out, they turn in towards the attacker with the ball, receive it, and continue turning to face the post.
- They take a shot from this veer-like movement and score.
