Avon Tyrell

Back to Coaching Coordinator

DON’T FORGET TO SEND TWO PEOPLE TO THE COACHING COURSE IN AVON TYRELL EACH YEAR!!!

If you do, you’re left with a big coaching hole, and it is not easy to fill it. Talk to the President and Treasurer at the end of your coaching year and start the process. They, and the incoming President and Treasurer, will help you, and will sort out the funding etc.

As of 2012 – please update this as it changes – you need to email Phil Buttinger (pjbuttinger@tiscali.co.uk) around March time and ask for two places at Avon Tyrell, the coaching course in August each year. He’ll send you details, including forms for a BKA grant to help pay for it (make sure you get these!).

Ask around the club for those interested, and chat up people who you think would make good coaches. Generally they tend to be decent players already and often have already shown a skill and desire to coach.

Make sure they are aware of the commitment they are making, and encourage them to think exactly how and why they want to get involved. In my opinion, if someone can’t write a 50 word paragraph/paint a pretty picture of why they want to be an EUKC coach, they probably shouldn’t be going. But use your own common sense!
